January assessment: learner response
Feedback
There are actually loads of positives here; you are focused on the question, you pitch out relevant moments in the clips and use some media terminology. Just one to add...
There simply isn't enough depth and detail to your answers. Also, you are lacking in media theory. However, your main focus needs to be on developing much more detailed paragraphs using specific reference to the clip, media terminology and a relevant theory if applicable.
Learner response - Audience
The short film makes it easy to build personal relationships with the characters in the advertisement. Similarily to the way the wife and the daughter protected the man from getting injured by acting as the seatbelt as a safety precaution, it makes us identify with them as we the audience wan to also keep our family safe.
The Hypodermic needle would explain the advert as a passive acceptance of information to the audience. As it is basically showing to the audience that wearing a seat belt you could die. Which is what is what the audience automatically sees to be the direct message without considering anything else. This is useful because it gets the message across very easily.
This clip appeals to a wide audience that are ABC1C2 because of the fact that its an advertisement for car accidents and people who are of those status tend to travel by some kind of vehicle. In terms of psychographics it would appeal the most towards the mainstreamers who value family and linking to the hypodermic needle they are conformist and passive
The lack of dialogue used emphasises the emotional connection that is trying to be presented to the audience. This would appeal to a wide audience because it will make them want to share this information with the people they know so that they are aware of the dangers.
